Clippers acquire Lamar Odom; Mo Williams Sent to Jazz
The Clippers acquired Lamar Odom from the Dallas Mavericks in a four-team trade, which also sent guard, Mo Williams to the Utah Jazz. Williams exercised his player option which put the final stamp on the deal to move the rightful pieces to each of their respective teams.
The Clippers have filled their void in locking in a versatile big man, which they lacked last season. Though the Clippers have Kenyon Martin and Reggie Evans to substitute for Griffin and Jordan, Lamar Odom brings the finesse of a big man forward that can bring the ball up the court.
Lamar Odom started his career in Los Angeles with the Clippers in 1999. He does have some history in Los Angeles with the Lakers. He won two championships and a sixth man of the year award with the team across the hall, but he likes his chances after being traded back to the Los Angeles Clippers. Odom told the Los Angeles Times, “I’m looking at this like it’s a good fit to be going back to the Clippers,” Odom said. “I think that the Clippers have some very good pieces. I like the wayChris [Paul] and Blake compete. I think basketball-wise, it’ll be pretty easy for me to play with this team.”
Lamar Odom will be making $8.2 million for the next upcoming NBA season.
