Just when the team was starting to turn the table on the season, the Dallas Mavericks get hit with a huge blow to the team.  It has been revealed that recently injured combo guard Delonte West will miss a number of weeks after fracturing and dislocating his right ring finger after a botched steal attempt on Wednesday last week.

West, who underwent surgery on Friday to insert pins into his finger in order to stabilize and support the joints, will have will have to undergo a procedure to remove said pins before he can even return to practice.  This will not happen for at least a few weeks, meaning the 7 year vet will be unable to be with the team until at least mid-March.

West has been a starter in 20 of 29 games for Dallas so far this season, averaging 8.3 points, 3.4 assists and 2.5 rebounds per game in just under 23 minutes per contest.  West is also having the most effective year of his career, with a high 15.68 player efficiency rating.  The Mavericks (20-11) finish their road trip Sunday with a trip to New York before returning to Dallas for a 4 game home-stand this week.
