Lineup Changes In Minnesota? Milicic And Johnson On Notice

With a lack of a proper training camp or preseason, this season is being chalked in as a learning experience for Rick Adelman and the Minnesota Timberwolves. Though flirting with a .500 record for the first time since the Garnett-era, the team has been through quite a few lineup changes and already seen a few transitions in the starting 5.
Rookie point guard Ricky Rubio made his debut in early January and hasn’t looked back and now fresh off his return from a series of injuries, forward Michael Beasley has gone from starter to 6th man. Now with the sudden emergence of of Nikola Pekovic, who has recorded his 2nd double-double in a week, there are rumblings that he may take over the starting spot at center in place of Darko Milicic. In less playing time per game this season, Pekovic has outscored and outrebounded Milicic as well has having nearly double the efficiency rating. Pekovic also has the edge in double doubles 2-0.
There could also be another lineup change coming soon; with the return of Michael Beasley, Wesley Johnson, who took over the starting small forward role, could soon find himself on the bench. Beasley, who was a starter before injuring his hand and ankle, has been the Wolves 6th man the last 2 games since his return. Coach Adelman has not ruled out using Beasley as a scoring spark off the bench, but with the noticeable struggles Johnson has had against starting units this season, it would not come as a surprise to see him take a break becoming a relief player in the near future.
The Timberwolves (10-12) will attempt to shake off a tough loss at home against the Pacers Wednesday as they travel to New Jersey to play the 8-15 Nets on Friday.
