Nuggets and Gallinari Believed To Be Discussing Extension

It is believed that Italian swingman Danilo Gallinari is in negotiations for a new contract with the Denver Nuggets.

These discussions are coming just 12 days before the January 25th deadline for 2008 draftees, to which would mean that players from that class without new deal after the deadline will become restricted free agents on July 1st.

Danilo Gallinari has been a key member for the Nuggets team who have been tackling there first full season post Carmelo Anthony. He averages a team high 17.2 points per game and is shooting 47% from the floor.

The question is whether the Nuggets can afford to wait and allow the Forward to be a restricted free agent at the end of the season after dishing out a total $110m combined for  Nene and Arron Afflalo. The Italian is not the only player from this class looking for a new deal. The list of top players still looking for a deal include: Russell Westbrook, Kevin Love, Nicolas Batum and O.J. Mayo.
