Top 50 players of 2012 #42 Ricky Rubio


Ricky Rubio is the first point guard to appear on the top 50 list and also the very first Minnesota Timber-Wolve. Rubio gave the T-Wolves an added spark in the 2012 NBA season and solidified their much needed point guard that the T-Wolves have been searching for years and years.

  • 10.6 points per game
  • 8.2 assists per game
  • 2.2 steals per game
  • 4.2 rebounds per game

Rubio was drafted by Minnesota with the 5th pick in 2009, however, the stud would sign a contract with his team in Spain that would keep him there for 2 more years. The critics and audiences of the NBA didn’t know what to expect out of Rubio. Stats showed that Ricky shined with his team in Spain but however, everyone didn’t expect much out of him.

 

 

In 2012, the Minnesota Timber-Wolves showed an extensive amount of improvement and Rubio would energize the unit which resulted in a 9 win improvement in a short season compared to a full season in 2010-2011.

 

 

On the other hand, Ricky Rubio would increase his teammate’s statistics with his intelligence and sensitivity when running the point for Minnesota. Rubio showed the T-Wolve’s front office and staff that he was the last piece to the core puzzle for the franchise, teaming up with Kevin Love and soaring to new heights.

 

 

Rubio’s rookie season was cut short with an injury that sidelined him for more than the last half of the season and the Wolve’s record would show how much he meant to them.

 

 

Rubio, only at 21 years of age has a long career ahead for him and is on the pace to become a hall of famer to the game of basketball and will look to push the Timber-wolves to the playoffs.
